My own personal Jesus - Speed paint
Did this speed painting in Photoshop of Thierry henry. Loved the expression on his face. This was completed in just over an hour and the focus was to forget about accurate detailing and instead look at colour values and building layers of tone.
Adobe Photoshop CS3 - 1 hour 20 minutes.
Meow...
A peek at a dark knight rises movie poster thing im working on... Yes I like catwoman.
Adobe Phtoshop CS3 - 5 hours painting time.

After the Storm
A portrait turned illustration of my baby sister and future brother in-law (L..O freaking L). Had this initial idea of the two of them looking up towards the sky but at what exactly?, well with all the crappy weather of late I found that a double rainbow was indeed what this piece needed.
Really had fun playing around with the water and lighting aspects of this illustration, I feel like I have captured that semi dried off...rain...look, after the storm.......

Selina
What way to kick off the blog then with a good old Digital painting. As a batman fan and Anne hathaway "admirer", what luck that the two have crossed paths as Anne stars as Selina kyle the Catwoman in next summers The Dark Knight Rises.
For this piece I decided to freestyle a lot so the costume and mask are a mesh of old and new with some rhinestones thrown in. As you can see Selina is staring at us as she spins around her finger what is presumably the keys to the Batmobile. Originally this was never going to be a part of the illustration but after finding my source face of Anne to be somewhat uneventful and realising that I had already gone too far to do anything about it I decided that adding her arm with the key to the piece would actually bring life to the character and fit her personality as the cocky master thief.
The use of pink lighting (which you will see a lot going forward) is to emphasize her alluring and sexual nature. I purposefully heaped it on like a visual perfume to drive that point across.
For the background I have used textured brushes to establish a cloudy atmosphere, the rest is a silhouetted gotham done from reference of a chicago skyline, with good old bats pondering posthumously on his gargoyle.
I have to say this project was a lot of fun and I do plan on revisiting the Batman universe at some point in the future.
Time to completion: 10 hours in 4 sittings.
Blog Primer: Welcome to Matografy!!
Well after a long time of saying I will, finally I got my self together and am eager to churn out lots of productive and exciting projects. As an artist I have always been about bettering my technique and exploring the unknown, two things which anyone who reads this blog will see in the near future. After many years of paper and pencil I have now fully moved over to the digital age and with that comes a new found interest and completely new style which I wish to share with the world. This Blog will display my creativity as well as my thought process and other idiotic stuff.
Enjoy
